GOUGH WHITLAM: At the historic 1975 dismissal of prime minister Whitlam in Canberra, Norman and his TV crew tried to “interview” Labor personalities including the PM. Bob Hawke snubbed Norman, saying: “It’s a bit too serious for that!”
PAUL MCCARTNEY: Norman made the former Beatle’s day when he told his then-wife Linda, “You don’t look Japanese,” seeming to mistake her for John Lennon’s spouse, Yoko Ono.
SALLY STRUTHERS: His chat with the US actress went down in history when Sally suggested Norman use an electric razor to avoid cutting himself. He replied, “I do” – and she couldn’t stop laughing.
MICK JAGGER: Meeting the famed Rolling Stones’ rocker in LA, Norman told him he’d been a fan since, “you were in the Beatles!” Mick ditched his cool persona and totally cracked up!
OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN: Visiting the late star’s Koala Blue store in Los Angeles, Norman acted as if Olivia was just a shop assistant, which she played along with.
