MELBOURNE-raised superstar Olivia NewtonJohn is “hopelessly devoted” to curing cancer.
Almost 4000 people participated in 5km and 10km events at the sixth annual Olivia Newton-John Wellness Walk and Research Run.
The 69-year-old Grease icon addressed the crowd at La Trobe’s Bundoora Campus, which raised about $1 million for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer the weekend her father died of cancer in 1992, Newton-John is now fighting her third bout of cancer, this time in the base of her spine.
The centre provides treatment and wellness programs, and does research.
