‘MY PROMISE TO MUM’

ON A BITTERSWEET OCCASION, THE SINGER LOOKS BACK

Lattanzi admitted to People she “didn’t feel strong at all” when her mum passed away.

It’s a song that was years in the making, but on September 26, to mark what would have been Olivia NewtonJohn’s 76th birthday, Chloe Lattanzi finally released the single she promised her mother she would. Called ‘Phoenix’, the tune is something Newton-John encouraged her daughter to finish before she passed away from breast cancer two years ago.

“She would listen to it every day and she would just be like, ‘Come on baby, put it out, put it out,’” Lattanzi, 38, recently told People. “But then Mama took a downward turn and the most important thing to me is taking care of my mum.”

With the song now released, Lattanzi is proud to have kept her promise and be able to honour her mum’s memory.

“For anyone who’s struggling with issues of the body, the mind, or the spirit, I want it to be a reminder to them that they are incredibly more powerful than they could ever imagine,” she said.
