Pop stars set to pay tribute at memorial

AUSTRALIA’S biggest pop singers are expected to gather to pay tribute to Olivia Newton-John at a State memorial service in Victoria.
Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed the Grease star’s family accepted the offer of a state celebration of her life which would be “much more of a concert … it’ll be an appropriate ceremony.”
Her close friends including John Farnham, Delta Goodrem, Tina Arena and Daryl Braithwaite are likely to be among those approached to contribute to the public memorial service, alongside Molly Meldrum and her niece Totti Goldsmith.
Newton-John’s funeral will be held in southern California where she made her home for more than four decades.
Her adoring husband and natural health entrepreneur John Easterling shared a deeply personal tribute to the singer, actor and cancer advocate he married in June 2008 on her Instagram account.
“Our love for each other transcends our understanding. Every day we expressed our gratitude for this love that could be so deep, so real, so natural,” he wrote.
“We never had to ‘work’ on it. We were in awe of this great mystery and accepted the experience of our love as past, present and forever.
“At Olivia’s deepest essence she was a healer using her mediums of song, of words, of touch. She was the most courageous woman I’ve ever known.
“In her most difficult times she always had the spirit, the humour, and the will power to move things into the light. Our family deeply appreciates the vast ocean of love and support that has come our way.”
