YOUR HOME

La maison australienne d'ONJ intéresse les médias ...

You’re the one that I want...

Olivia Newton-John puts her  spectacular Australian farmand house on the market, writes Susan Welsh

We love a look through the keyhole of a celebrity pad in Your Home and when we heard singer and actress, Olivia NewtonJohn was getting ready to part with the house she’s owned for nearly 40 years in Australia, well, it would be rude not to have a peek inside wouldn’t it?

It was appearing in the 1978 classic movie, Grease, that turned Olivia into a superstar.

After spending time in Hollywood, she returned to Australia in the early 1980s and bought her farm and house.

This was her retreat, a place of peace in the rainforest and views over the land where she could recharge her batteries.

Now the glamorous star is 70, and with Florida as her home base, when she and her husband, John Easterling, do return to Oz, they stay at the Gaia Retreat & Spa which she co-owns.

Hoping to attract a buyer who is as much of a lover of nature as herself, she has put Dalwood, the 187acre farm and its French country-style home on the market.

Located only 40 minutes from celebrity and tourist favourite Byron Bay, the farm is a mix of rolling pasture and green lawns with panoramic views, rainforest with a natural waterfall, two dams, a pond and a creek that runs through the property, which abuts the Victoria Park Nature Reserve National Park and acts as its boundary. Over the years Olivia planted more than 10,000 additional trees.

And the house is built on a hill to make the most of the incredible views.

It was renovated in 2002 in a French rustic style and includes pine floors, textured entry walls with shells and pebbles from local beaches, and a large eat-in kitchen designed as a gathering spot for friends and family.

There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and lots of outdoor porches and terraces, including a wide dock on the pond, the perfect spot for summer night alfresco dining and watching the sun set.

Attached to the house is a completely private guest suite with a large living room, a kitchenette, bedroom, bath and additional conversation nook.

The house also comes with a double garage and tennis court.

The asking price for Oliva’s special down under retreat is offers over $5.5 million AU, around £2,958,257, and the selling agent is Olivia’s lifelong friend Jillian McGrath with McGrath Estate Agents, Northern Beaches Office Australia.
