LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Olivia Newton-John vendra aux enchères plus de 200 costumes, robes, accessoires et objets personnels dont son célèbre blouson en cuir noir et le pantalon moulant qu'elle portait dans le film "Grease" et ce afin de récolter des fonds pour son centre de traitement du cancer en Australie.
La veste et le pantalon seront vendus séparément, mais ensemble, ils devraient rapporter jusqu'à 200 000 dollars, a annoncé la maison de vente aux enchères.
Olivia Newton-John vendra également son scénario original du film GREASE , d’une valeur pouvant aller jusqu’à 4 000 dollars, ainsi que la robe rose qu’elle portait lors de la première du film Grease à Los Angeles (estimée entre 3 000 et 5 000 dollars US), et une veste personnalisée des Pink Ladies par le casting et l'équipe de "Grease".
La chanteuse vendra quelques vêtements de la période «Physical» composé d'un haut long en velours côtelé et lamé d’or blanc et d’un short court porté par ONJ lors de l’épisode The Merv Griffin Show du 2 octobre 1981 et de sa tenue en satin de soie sur mesure, ainsi qu'un corsage porté sur la couverture du Tour Book de «Physical» en 1982.
Des pièces de ses costumes portées pendant le tournage du film Xanadu doivent également passer sous le marteau, y compris ses bottes western en daim crème et faites sur mesure ainsi qu'un pantalon sarouel tricoté, porté par Newton-John pour la chanson XANADU.
Une partie du produit de cette vente aux enchères servira à financer le centre de recherche, a déclaré "Julien'Auction".
La vente aux enchères aura lieu les 1er et 2 novembre à Beverly Hills. Avant la vente aux enchères, des expositions publiques seront exposées au Museum of Style Icons en Irlande et à Beverly Hills.

Olivia Newton-John has been recognised for her work as an entertainer and philanthropist.
The singer has received Australia's highest honour, the Companion of the Order of Australia, and was presented her medal by ambassador Joe Hockey in Los Angeles.
She's known for her iconic role in Grease opposite John Travolta, but she's also well known for her charity work - having established the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne.
“You are being recognised by your nation not just because we are proud of you but because you have changed the world,” Joe Hockey said, as reported in The Australian.
“It is not just because of your singing, songwriting, acting - that’s the stuff that has lit up so many faces … but you are doing it now from a philanthropy perspective, simply by illustrating to the world you never give up. You never walk away from any challenge. You are the most optimistic person I have ever met.”

Mediaplanet: With over five decades of entertainment success, what does “Don’t Stop Believin’” mean to you?
Olivia Newton-John: “Don’t Stop Believin’” is a special song written by my long-time producer, songwriter, and friend John Farrar. The song means so much to me on many levels — professionally and personally. The message of the song is simply to not stop believing, even on your worst days. It’s the reason why I chose it as the title for my new memoir.
As you're best known for your strength, courage, and grace, what do you think is the key to healthy aging?
I think the key to healthy aging is just using common sense. Eat healthy foods, exercise, do something you enjoy doing every day, and laugh — a lot! I laugh as often as I can — and often at myself! I find humour in most situations because a sense of humour about life and myself is so integral to my healing.
Amidst your busy daily life, how do you stay positive?
I stay positive because we really only have two choices — being positive or negative. I choose to be positive because I feel if you put out positive energy, it will return to you ten-fold! I stay positive because I'm lucky enough to have a wonderful husband, family, animals, and friends. Those are really the important things to help keep you happy and healthy!
Can you tell us about your experience with cancer? Has it changed your outlook on life?
I know it will sound strange, but my diagnosis in 1992 was a gift. Had I not been diagnosed, I may never have set out to help create the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre (ONJCWRC) in my hometown of Melbourne, Australia. It’s a beautiful place with traditional treatments, a dedicated wellness centre, and a research centre all under one roof. I’ve always been a very positive person so that’s how I choose to look at things.
Cancer doesn’t define you, it’s only a part of who you are, but my outlook on life has changed — even more especially this time, with my third diagnosis. I do something I enjoy every day and I don’t sweat the small stuff, and I try to always live in the moment. Every day is a gift!
What gives you the motivation to be such a strong figure for so many women who have breast cancer?
I didn’t plan on it. Having had cancer now three times, I’ve had many years to adjust to it and talk about it. Having helped create and build the ONJCWRC has been a passion of mine for the last 15 years and being open about my cancer journey has helped other women on theirs, I believe. That makes me feel good — and it’s encouraging for them that I’m still here! It’s encouraging for me too!
Learning from your own experience, what do you think was the most important lesson? Is there one message you’d like people to know?
I’ve learned so many lessons, but I think my main one is gratitude — for every day. For every sunrise and sunset. The appreciation of life in all its beauty — it’s all a gift.

"I honestly Love You" n'était pas censé être la chanson d'Olivia Newton-John. Peter Allen, un auteur-compositeur-interprète australien, l'avait coécrit avec Jeff Barry, l'auteur-compositeur de musique pop qui avait co-écrit les singles « Chapel Of Love », « Leader Of The Pack » et « Sugar , Sugar .» Barry avait l’idée que "I Honestly Love You" serait une bonne chanson à chanter pour un homme. Le message de la chanson est le suivant: je ne vais pas tricher avec vous, mais considérons au moins l'idée de tricher.
Peter Allen était prêt à enregistrer la chanson lui-même, mais Olivia Newton-John avait entendu une démonstration et elle avait vraiment envie de l'enregistrer. Dans les mains de Newton-John, la chanson n’a rien de faux ou d’excitant. Cela devient une confession sincère, un aveu vulnérable d'une attraction qui ne peut aller nulle part...
