 La veste en cuir Grease d’Olivia Newton-John s’est envolée pour plus de 476 000 $ aux enchères.

Une veste en cuir portée par Olivia Newton-John dans Grease s’est vendue pour plus de 476 000 dollars lors d’une vente aux enchères à Beverly Hills.

La veste portée par Sandy à la fin du film et le numéro You’re the One That I Want figuraient parmi les meilleurs articles à gagner de la collection Julien’s Auctions qui s’est tenue vendredi.

Décrite comme « un design classique » de la comédie musicale de 1978, la veste devait se vendre entre 80 000 $US et 100 000 $.

Ce n’était pas la première fois que la veste était mise aux enchères.
En 2019, après avoir conservé le costume pendant 40 ans, Newton-John avait vendu la veste pour 243 200 $US, lors d’une vente aux enchères caritative.

Mais son acheteur lui a rendu la veste lorsqu’ils ont rencontré la star plus tard à son domicile californien.

Parmi les autres articles en vente, citons les passeports de Newton-John, son piano à queue turquoise et des pièces de garde-robe de son clip de Jolene avec Dolly Parton.

Une partie des recettes ira au Fonds de la Fondation Olivia Newton-John, un fonds qui parraine la recherche mondiale sur la médecine par les plantes pour le cancer.

La star australienne est décédée en 2022, à l’âge de 73 ans, après avoir partagé son parcours avec le cancer du sein pendant de nombreuses années.

Elle a remporté plusieurs Grammy Awards au cours d’une carrière de cinq décennies, créant des succès tels que I Honestly Love You, XANADU et Physical.

En 2019, le casque de Dark Vador porté dans L’Empire contre-attaque a été vendu pour 898 420 $US aux enchères, ce qui en fait l’un des souvenirs de cinéma les plus chers jamais vendus.

ENCHERES

Chez JULIEN : Enchérissez sur Une photographie couleur encadrée de #OliviaNewtonJohn et #JohnTravolta posant aux côtés de deux personnages inconnus ( qui se reconnaitrons !! ), vers la fin des années 70 et le début des années 80 ( 1978 !! ). Sur la photo, Newton-John et Travolta détiennent des prix de disques d’or certifiés par la RIAA pour commémorer la vente de plus d’un million d’unités de leur single RSO « You’re the One That I Want ».

C'est ce bon samaritain qui avait acheté aux enchères la célèbre veste en cuir qu'Olivia portait dans GREASE




Le milliardaire a souhaité garder l'anonymat mais a été confirmé être un médecin et un entrepreneur en technologie des médias par Julien's Auctions, qui a organisé la vente aux enchères originale.
Il a acheté la veste aux enchères le mois dernier mais l'a presque immédiatement offerte à l'actrice qui a joué "Sandy" dans le film à succès. Elle sera désormais exposée en permanence au Olivia Newton-John Wellness and Research Centre à Melbourne, en Australie.

L'acheteur a déclaré que la veste méritait d'être rendue à sa "propriétaire légitime" et "de ne pas rester dans le placard d'un milliardaire du country club pour se vanter". "Je vous souhaite une guérison rapide, si jamais vous avez besoin de conseils médicaux ou de l'aide d'un médecin de confiance, je serai là", a-t-il déclaré à Olivia Newton-John

On comprend l'émotion d'Olivia !! Très très beau geste !!

SURPRISE


Il y a du nouveau sur une vente aux enchères des souvenirs de @ olivianj en novembre dernier. La célèbre veste en cuir noir qu'elle portait dans "Grease" s'est vendue pour plus de 243 000 $ à un milliardaire, qui veut garder l'anonymat.... et qui lui à offert en retour !

C'est vrai qu'ONJ sans sa veste de GREASE ..

John Travolta Wants Worldwide Reunions with Olivia Newton-John ...

Only “Extra’s” Renee Bargh was with John Travolta in Olivia Newton-John's home country of Australia, where he dished on his upcoming reunion with his “Grease” co-star!

The two are joining forces on three Meet 'N' Grease movie Sing-A-Long events in Florida in mid-December: in West Palm Beach, Tampa, and Jacksonville. John shared, “We're doing a Meet 'N' Grease is what we call it, and we're only doing it in Florida to start, see how it goes, and if it goes well, we'll do a lot over the world.”

Travolta is ready to take on the world with his “Grease” co-star, pointing out, “We are almost sold out in the U.S. for the three dates… We'll see how it goes. You know, I know that it's been successful even without us 'cause people do the Hollywood Bowl and I know that it's been good, but we'll see.”



Les deux stars vont unirent leurs forces pour trois événements MEET 'N' GREASE Sing-A-Long en Floride à la mi-décembre: à West Palm Beach, à Tampa et à Jacksonville.
John a dit: «Nous faisons un Meet 'N' Grease, nous appelons cela comme ça, et nous le faisons uniquement en Floride pour commencer, voir comment ça se passe, et si cela se passe bien, nous en ferons beaucoup plus à travers le monde."

Travolta est prêt à conquérir le monde avec sa co-vedette de «Grease», soulignant: «Tout a presque été  vendus aux États-Unis pour les trois dates… Nous verrons comment ça se passe....

Pas sur qu'Olivia soit aussi partante .. elle qui souhaite prendre du bon temps désormais ...

LA FEMME DU JOUR




On sait qui a acheté le fameux pantalon d'Olivia ... Sara Blakely, femme d'affaires pétillante, américaine. Elle a créé en 2000 la société Spanx, dont elle détient à l'heure actuelle 100 % du capital. Spanx fabrique des sous-vêtements de maintien. 
Sara a également acheté le blouson rose des Pink Ladies ! Et Sara est une fan d'Olivia ( sans doute pas la plus grande .. mais l'une des plus riches !) 

Spanx founder Sara Blakely was revealed on "CBS This Morning" as the anonymous buyer of Olivia Newton-John's famed black satin pants from "Grease." The pants sold for more than $162,000 at Julien's Auctions in California.

 The skin-tight pants became an instant icon when Newton-John wore them during the song, "You're the one that I want."

Blakely also bought a custom "Pink Ladies" jacket presented to Newton-John by the movie's cast and crew.

ONJ : “I couldn’t think of anybody better to have them... So thank you so much. You’ve done so much for my hospital. I’m eternally grateful to you.”

GREAT NEWS

Pour aider la recherche médicale, Olivia Newton-John avait  décidé de se séparer de plus de 500 objets ayant marqué sa carrière.


La veste en cuir noir et le pantalon moulant qu'elle portait à la fin du film Grease ont rapporté 405 700 $ aux enchères, soit plus du double de l'offre attendue.

Au total, ce sont 2,4 millions de dollars qui ont été récoltés par Olivia Newton-John. La majorité des gains de la vente sera donnée au centre de recherche contre le cancer qu’elle a fondé à Melbourne en 2008.

« Je ne suis pas triste de me débarrasser de toutes ces affaires », avait expliqué l’intéressée à l’agence de presse DPA avant les enchères, « Ce ne sont que des choses et j’essaie de ne pas m’y attacher. Je vais garder de beaux souvenirs et des photos »..

 Les identités des acheteurs ne sont pas publiques. La robe rose qu'elle portait à la première du film s'est vendue 18 750 $ ... trois fois plus que l'estimation.

Joyful Newton-John discusses simple pleasures and why she doesn’t view cancer as a ‘battle’

“These things brought me joy,” says Olivia Newton-John, surrounded by mementoes from her career at Julien’s Auctions house, “but I’m letting them go.”


 Olivia Newton-John was going to turn down Grease.
“There were a couple of reasons why I didn’t want to do it,” she says. “I’d just made a movie that was a total disaster, and didn’t want to jeopardize a musical career that was taking off by making another bad film. Oh, and I was worried that I was too old.”

 The Australian actress, 71, bursts out laughing. “I was 29 — and convinced I was way too old to be playing a 17-year-old. Of course, now I look back and think, ‘What was I worried about?’”

 Joyous incredulity seems to be Newton-John’s default emotion today. Which makes sense. After all, we’re sitting in the Julien’s Auctions house in Beverly Hills, surrounded by more than 40 years’ worth of her own memorabilia.

 In pride of place is the black leather jacket and skin-tight black pants combo from Grease’s closing scene (expected to fetch US$200,000) and Sandy’s Pink Ladies jacket. There’s the custom-made 1950s-style lace gown she wore to the 1978 Los Angeles opening of Grease, costumes from Newton-John’s cult-classic Xanadu, her Physical tour dress and a wall of music awards the four-time Grammy-winning singer has collected over the years.

 If all that weren’t enough to feel joyously incredulous about, there’s the memory of her old friend John Travolta “coming to see me and convincing me to do (Grease) — because I honestly didn’t think I was going to. And when I asked for a screen test to see if we had the chemistry needed, that test cemented it.” A gurgle of laughter starts up again, “because we did have it. Lots of it.”

 She still can’t quite believe Randal Kleiser’s raunchy teen homage to the ’50s went on to make US$400 million at the box office — one of the highest-grossing musical films of all time — and Newton-John an overnight global sensation.

 But, perhaps most of all, she is joyous and incredulous that she’s here now “and doing great,” despite the stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis she was given in May 2017, when the illness she started battling in 1992 metastasized.

 “I don’t like that word ‘battling,’” she frowns. “I’ve never seen cancer as a fight or a battle. In fact, over the decades I’ve kind of befriended it — and right now I’m asking it to leave. Because instead of picking a fight with my body, I would rather keep calm and thank it for everything it has done for me.”

 She shakes her head. “I’m sure that sounds strange to someone who isn’t in my position. But I’ve had this since 1992, on and off, and been through all these different stages. I’ve been vegan and macrobiotic and I went for many months without sugar ...” But a lot of those things felt like punishments? “Yes! And I’m not saying they don’t work, but everybody has to choose their own path.”

 The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre she founded in Melbourne in 2008 explores every one of those paths, from wellness programs to breakthrough therapies. But in terms of pain relief, one thing has worked above all else for Newton-John, and that’s medicinal marijuana.

 Were it not for the tincture that John Easterling, her herbalist husband of 11 years, makes for her, the actress would have found it impossible to wean herself off the morphine she was forced to take when she fractured her sacrum. “And it was hard. But the tinctures really help. Nobody has ever died of cannabis, but opiates are killing people every day.”

 Then there’s the attitude she has chosen to adopt in so many areas of her life.

 “Right now, I do things that give me pleasure and joy,” she shrugs. “I eat healthily, but if I want a piece of chocolate or a cookie, I’ll have one — because it makes me happy. Have you read that wonderful book, Spark Joy, by Marie Kondo?” she asks of the bestselling decluttering bible. “You could extend it to all of life, really. These things brought me joy,” she says, gesturing to the 500-odd pieces of history around her, “but I’m letting them go. I can’t take them with me, and my daughter is not going to want all this.”

 Growing up in her mother’s shadow hasn’t been easy for 33-year-old Chloe Rose Lattanzi — Newton-John’s only child from her first marriage to actor Matt Lattanzi. And the actress and singer, who had a hit with You Have to Believe — which she co-wrote with her mom in 2016 — has spoken out about the deep-seated issues she has suffered over the years: anorexia, depression and substance abuse. “Fame messes you up,” she told one interviewer in 2013.

 Newton-John is the first to acknowledge how hard it must have been for her daughter.

 “Having a mother who is famous, and having this image that nothing goes wrong (for her), but also feeling you’re having to share (her) with the rest of the world ... that must have been tough. And the teenage years were not easy,” she says. “But now Chloe’s got me to herself — and we’re very close. Actually, I think this,” she says, not willing to give her diagnosis the weight of its name, “has brought us even closer together.”

 Knowing what you would and wouldn’t do for the sake of your career is something she has always urged her daughter to keep in mind. “As a woman, we’ve all had issues on sets ...” she says. #MeToo issues? “Well, I don’t want to go there,” she says. “But it is so difficult being a young actress and starting out in this business, because it’s all about boundaries and knowing what those are.”

 She pauses. “The casting couch thing was real in my life, too. I think I always managed to make light of things and let it go — but also I would never put myself in certain positions. That disastrous movie I had done just before Grease,” she goes on, “it was called Toomorrow ... I was there when the director said, ‘There’s a scene in the movie when you go up into space and your clothes come off and you’re just going to be in a bra and panties.’ And I said, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t do that.’ My career was important to me, but so were my boundaries.”
