Una subasta con más de 500 artículos que utilizó en la película ‘Grease’, realizará la actriz Olivia Newton-John para recaudar fondos para su centro de tratamiento contra el cáncer.
De este modo, los pantalones ajustados negros que utilizó mientras cantaba ‘You are the one that I want’ junto a John Travolta hacia el final de la producción cinematográfica y su chaqueta de cuero del mismo color, serán los artículos principales de la puja y se espera que alcancen los 200 mil millones de dólares.
“Los pantalones tienen el cierre roto y me los tuvieron que coser cuando los tenía puestos porque estaban hechos en los años 50”, dijo Newton-John, de 71 años.
Otros objetos que se subastarán son su guion original de la película, un vestido rosado que usó para el estreno de ‘Grease’ en Los Ángeles yuna chaqueta Pink Ladies que le dio el elenco del filme, entre otros artículos. “Me he dado cuenta a lo largo de los años, especialmente cuando pasas por cosas, que las cosas no son lo importante”, dijo la actriz.

On November 2, Olivia Newton-John is teaming with Julien's Auctions to sell items from her long career -- including the iconic black pants and leather jacket she wore as Sandy in Grease.
Olivia tells ABC Radio that surprisingly, it wasn't difficult to part with them. Since the money raised by the auction will go to Olivia's Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, in her native Australia, she had no compunction about selling anything, including that outfit.
"I've worn them and that was another part of my life, and now it can go to good use and someone can enjoy them," Olivia says. "I'm hoping it will end up in a museum somewhere so that people can see them in the future, but if not, a billionaire from China who wants it for his granddaughter...that's fine too!"
But there's a lot more on the block than just Grease items.
"I didn't realize I had so much stuff!" Olivia laughs. "I had stuff in storage at my house.... I had stuff in storage in L.A. My assistant Dana....had scripts and books and things from TV shows...and clothing that I'd had on tour....so there was a lot of surprises that I had forgot about."
When deciding what to keep and what to sell, Olivia would ask herself, "Can I let this go?"
"And every time the answer [was yes]...because it was going to be won by somebody who'd enjoy it and it would help my...Centre," she explains. "So it was a win-win for me."
But before she packed up Sandy's pants, Olivia admits she tried them on one last time. "I did, and I wasn't going to tell anyone unless I could get in [them]!" she laughs. "But thank goodness, at least my legs got in there!"

Olivia Newton-John isn’t hopelessly devoted to her stuff — which is why she’s auctioning them all away.
California-based Julien’s Auctions will be putting numerous pieces from the star’s personal clothing collection up for bid in November, including the iconic “leather jacket and skin-tight pants” she wore at the finale of the hit 1978 film “Grease.”
The clothes, along with a costume her character wrote in “Xanadu” and outfits she performed while promoting her “Physical” tour in 1982 (among several other pieces from her wardrobe), will hit the auction block during the Icons & Idols “two-day music extravaganza” on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 at the Standard Oil Building in Los Angeles.
Perhaps the most coveted item in the lot, however, is her leather “Grease” outfit, which is estimated to fetch between $100,000 and $200,000.
A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre near her hometown of Melbourne, Australia.
Back in March of this year, People magazine reported the 70-year-old was in the midst of treating stage 4 breast cancer. She was first diagnosed in 1992 and then secretly overcame a bout in 2013.
The singer/actress spoke to Fox News about launching her highly publicized auction, transforming into "bad Sandy" in the beloved musical, the one item she was hesitant to give away and how she’s doing today.
Fox News: What compelled you to launch this auction?
Olivia Newton-John: It’s been 41 years since "Grease" came out so it felt like the perfect time. Also, a great portion of the proceeds will go to my cancer wellness center in Melbourne, which is my passion, my legacy. I was originally just going to give away the jacket, but then I realized I had all these other things from my career. And it was just time to simplify *laughs*. It’s great, actually.
Fox News: Looking back, how was it transforming into a bad girl in “Grease”?
Newton-John: It was so much fun. I was playing Sandy for quite a while on set and I got to know her as this sweet little girl in a poodle skirt. But then when I got to try on that bad girl look for shooting, I actually didn’t know what to expect. I just had my hair and makeup done.
I walked on set wearing the costume while John [Travolta] was in the middle of filming a song. The reaction I got was so unexpected *laughs*. First of all, [the cast] didn’t know who I was. And then I got all of this attention from the guys. I just thought, "Oh my goodness! Is this what it takes?" *laughs*. It was an ah-ha moment, a humorous one. I was playing a character, but it was a lot of fun for me.
Fox News: What’s your relationship like with co-star John Travolta today?
Newton-John: It’s wonderful. We speak often. I’m also good friends with his wife. We will always be close. We’re always busy, but we also find ways to see each other when we can.
Fox News: Were there any items you were hesitant to give away for the auction?
Newton-John: I wasn’t really hesitant about anything. Stuff is stuff, you know? There was no point in having all of these things in a closet or in a box. But I think maybe my wedding dress — my first wedding dress.
I offered it to my daughter, but it’s way too old-fashioned. But I just didn’t see a reason for it to be collecting dust. I thought it would maybe come back into fashion later, but if my daughter already had that kind of reaction *laughs*. So we just decided to give it away. That was probably the one I had a little twinge over. She’s the gift that came out of that dress so it’s OK.
Fox News: One of the items is a dress you wore for a 1978 TV special with Andy Gibb. What was your relationship like him?
Newton-John: Andy I knew pretty well. We recorded together. He was a dear friend of mine. He was just a sweetheart. Such a lovely, sensitive young man. His death was such a tragedy. Even now, his loss is greatly felt.
Fox News: There’s no doubt you’re a survivor. However, was there ever a time in your career where you wanted to give up?
Newton-John: Oh probably lots of times *laughs*. But truthfully no. If things were always the same, you wouldn’t have the drive to improve, to grow, to do new things. Sure, I’ve had my share of disappointment and flops — but that’s all part of it. You just keep going. That’s really what success is about. You keep on going despite the setbacks and flops. And I enjoyed the ride. The whole thing was great. At this point? I’m not sure if I want to [tour] anymore. This has really been the first time where I just really sat down. And I had to sit down — my body forced me to sit down. But that’s OK. Because it’s allowed me to look at my life and see where I wanted to go. And I just can’t keep on going on that treadmill forever like I was.

Mon souhait .. un album aux consonances jazzy bossa nova .. un truc cool .. quelque chose de positif, qui nous fasse un peu rêver .. comme elle savait si bien le faire !
Et elle n'a pas besoin de refaire des tournées .. je me suis fais une raison ! et puis si il reste quelqu'un au bureau de la légende .. il serait bien de refaire vivre son fond de catalogue comme presque tous les autres artistes ! Ne pas attendre qu'elle quitte définitivement la scène ... ou que la majorité de ses fans deviennent sourds avec l'age venant ! L'espoir fait vivre ...

Olivia Newton-John Is 'Thriving' While Facing Cancer Again — and Still Trying to Make a Difference
Olivia Newton-John is teaming up with Dancers Against Cancer, an organization that has raised more than $2 million for dancers affected by the disease
As she continues to face the return of her cancer, Olivia Newton-John remains a positive force — and is continuing to make an impact with her platform.
“I’m doing well. I’m thriving! This is my word,” the star, who’s teaming up with Dancers Against Cancer (an organization that has raised more than $2 million for dance educators, choreographers, dancers and their families who have been impacted by cancer), told PEOPLE on set of a PSA shoot for the campaign.
“The dance performing community means a lot to me. I’ve always loved dancers and wished that I’d learnt when I was young,” says Newton-John, 70, who revealed in 2017 that she had been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. “I used to do creative dance, but I never really learned it until I had to dance with Gene Kelly and John Travolta. Lucky me, I got to do Dancing with the Stars long before it was a show.”
“My cancer journey started in 1992, and I went through surgery and chemotherapy,” she says. “I was lucky enough to have yoga and massage and homeopathy and meditation, and then I had a spell of years where I was okay. Then I have metastases now.”
While on set, three young dancers — Allyson Minahan, Kate Campa and Allie Brown — who star in the PSA (produced by Rossi Bros. Media in association with Beyond the Porch) opened up about their own emotional experiences with the devastating disease.
On Aug. 14, various dancers, educators, pioneers and more will be honored at the Industry Dance Awards & Cancer Benefit Show, an annual event held at the Avalon in Hollywood that will benefit cancer-related charities including dancers Against Cancer.
Newton-John will receive the lifetime achievement award, Jenna Dewan will be honored with the trailblazer award, Derek Hough and Julianne Hough will take home the role model award, Napoleon and Tabitha D’Umo will receive the innovator award and Galen Hooks will be given the dance icon award

Olivia Newton-John is teaming up with Dancers Against Cancer, an organization that has raised more than $2 million for dancers affected by the disease
As she continues to face the return of her cancer, Olivia Newton-John remains a positive force — and is continuing to make an impact with her platform.
“I’m doing well. I’m thriving! This is my word,” the star, who’s teaming up with Dancers Against Cancer (an organization that has raised more than $2 million for dance educators, choreographers, dancers and their families who have been impacted by cancer), told PEOPLE on set of a PSA shoot for the campaign.
“The dance performing community means a lot to me. I’ve always loved dancers and wished that I’d learnt when I was young,” says Newton-John, 70, who revealed in 2017 that she had been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. “I used to do creative dance, but I never really learned it until I had to dance with Gene Kelly and John Travolta. Lucky me, I got to do Dancing with the Stars long before it was a show.”
“My cancer journey started in 1992, and I went through surgery and chemotherapy,” she says. “I was lucky enough to have yoga and massage and homeopathy and meditation, and then I had a spell of years where I was okay. Then I have metastases now.”
While on set, three young dancers — Allyson Minahan, Kate Campa and Allie Brown — who star in the PSA (produced by Rossi Bros. Media in association with Beyond the Porch) opened up about their own emotional experiences with the devastating disease.
On Aug. 14, various dancers, educators, pioneers and more will be honored at the Industry Dance Awards & Cancer Benefit Show, an annual event held at the Avalon in Hollywood that will benefit cancer-related charities including dancers Against Cancer.
Newton-John will receive the lifetime achievement award, Jenna Dewan will be honored with the trailblazer award, Derek Hough and Julianne Hough will take home the role model award, Napoleon and Tabitha D’Umo will receive the innovator award and Galen Hooks will be given the dance icon award
