I would like to start off by chatting more about your memoir, Don’t Stop Believin’. Why did you want to write the book?

Well, it didn’t start off like I suddenly wanted to write it. What happened was, I heard that a movie about my life was wanting to be made in Australia, and you know, to cut to the chase, I wanted to write my version. The right version. I don’t know what they would have said. That was the inspiration, really.

What do you hope readers take away from the book?

I hope they are entertained and they feel motivated, and they feel positive things. That’s not why I wrote the book, but I truly hope they are entertained and feel something.

What was the writing process like for you? Did it energize you, or was it an exhausting process?

It was both. I worked with a wonderful woman who helped me and interviewed me, and we talked for hours. She wrote stuff down; then I would put it in my own words. It was a learning process; it was emotional; it was a journey, and it made me think about a few things I haven’t thought about in a while. But it was fun. So, it was a mixture of all those things.

And how did you come with the title Don’t Stop Believin’?

I have always loved that song, and John Farrar produced the album, and it built my career. I always thought it was such an inspiring lyric. It is one of the first songs I sang with lyrics like that, so positive, and consequently, I have done other albums and more kinds of those things. That song kept coming to my head, and I thought, what a perfect title for this book.

Your career spans more than five decades, so I am sure there are many moments that you will forever cherish. What are some of your favorite moments that you highlight and talk about in the book?

Throughout my career, the first thing that always comes to mind is singing at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games with John Farnham. That was such an incredible experience and I was honored to walk out on that stage and see all those people. It was amazing.


Now, another big issue you talk about in the book is your health and battle with cancer. How are you doing these days?

I am doing really great! I am out of my home, shopping. That may sound like nothing to you, but when you have been through what I have, I mean, I had to learn to walk again. I am very grateful to be back in life and doing things. Do not take anything for granted.


I am so glad to hear that. I mean, at the beginning of the year, tabloids were saying you were basically on your deathbed and ready to cross over.

Yes, I saw that. I thought, it’s time to put this to bed. This is so stupid, and it was a very strange feeling to read that. I don’t know if you have ever read your own death, but it’s odd! [Laughs]. I needed to face this head on and put an end to it. It was stupid.

The tabloids can be quite a pain to deal with. So, is your cancer in full remission?

I don’t call it that. I try not to label things, but I am doing very well. I am living over it and winning over it. How does that sound?

Hugh Jackman Pays Tribute To Olivia Newton-John During Concert

During one of his tour stops, Hugh Jackman took a moment to give a shoutout to Olivia Newton-John.

“Hi Olivia, it’s Hugh and 15,000 of your fans behind me,” Jackman said in a video posted on his Twitter.

“I don’t know if all of you watched ’60 Minutes’ last night,” he said to the audience in reference to the special featuring Newton-John and her daughter, Chole Lattanzi, where they discuss her battle with cancer.

“But you are the most amazing mom, singer, dancer,” the “Wolverine” star went on. “We love you, Olivia.”

Hugh Jackman A rendu un hommage à Olivia Newton-John lors d'un de ses concerts !

"Bonjour Olivia, c'est Hugh et 15 000 de vos fans derrière moi", a déclaré Jackman dans une vidéo publiée sur son compte Twitter.

"Je ne sais pas si vous avez tous regardé" 60 Minutes "la nuit dernière", a-t-il déclaré à l'auditoire en référence à l'émission spéciale mettant en vedette Newton-John et sa fille, Chole Lattanzi, où ils discutaient de sa lutte contre le cancer.

"Mais vous êtes la maman, la chanteuse, la danseuse la plus extraordinaire", a poursuivi la star de "Wolverine". "Nous vous aimons, Olivia."

Rappelons que Hugh était fan d'Olivia du temps de son adolescence !

One woman may be receiving most of Hugh Jackman's kisses these days -- that'd be his wife of 17 years, Deborra-Lee Furness -- but the Wolverine star spent his youth practicing with another famous lady: Olivia Newton-John.

Only, the Grease actress never knew about it.

"I remember when I was a kid growing up in Australia, all I wanted to do was be able to travel," the 47-year-old actor reminisced onstage druing the 2016 G'Day Los Angeles Gala on Thursday, People reports.

"I didn't have posters of footie [soccer] stars or rock stars up on my wall," he continued. "I had a map of the world literally next to my bed, and I used to lie in bed and dream of all of the places that I would go to when I was older."

The Aussie then caught himself and admitted that he did have one famous face displayed in his bedroom. "I did have a poster of Olivia Newton-John up on my wall, which I literally kissed," Jackman fessed up. "Maybe even practiced tongue-kissing on. I'm not sure!"

Coup de foudre à Hollywood

Il n'y a pas que les communs des mortels qui ont eu le béguin pour Olivia Newton-John !

Le charmant Hugh Jackman avait, adolescent, le béguin pour la star de GREASE. Il avait une photo de la dame caché sous son bureau ! (source : Hello).

Jane Lynch était sur le plateau du talk-show Conan pour la promotion de la cinquième saison de GLEE, elle n'a pu s'empêcher de de partager avec le public son béguin pour Olivia Newton-John !
«Elle était faite pour moi», a déclaré Lynch. «Je l'aimais - j'ai nommé mon chien comme elle. Le nom de mon chien est Olivia. J'ai eu un gros coup de coeur de lesbienne pour elle, et j'ai nommé mon chien comme elle ».

Rappelons qu'Olivia fut l'une des invitées de la première saison de GLEE... elle a même repris son tube PHYSICAL en duo avec Jane Lynch !

Lynch a également révélé que Newton-John n'était pas la seule star de Grease pour qui elle avait de la fascination ! Elle a également été quelque peu obsédé par John Travolta.

"Je connaissais chaque plan de son visage. Je connaissais sa fossette au menton ... ses yeux clairs avec les cils noirs" a t-elle avoué.

Lynch a depuis compris ce qu'elle ressentait: "Je l'aimais, je l'aimais, mais je pense que je voulais être lui. Je ne voulais pas sortir avec lui".

Tout nouveau, tout chaud, Olivia est sortie de son nid douillet pour assister à New-York à la première du film Australia avec ses compatriotes Nicole Kidman et le séduisant Hugh Jackman. Accompagnée de son séduisant mari John Esterling.

Hugh Jackman est un fan de la première heure d'Olivia. Il a déjà plusieurs fois raconté combien, adolescent, il était amoureux d'elle. La première fois qu'il l'a rencontrée c'était sur le tournage de "Swordfish" avec John Travolta.

Olivia était venu voir John sur le plateau et déjeuner avec lui dans sa caravane. Afin de lui faire la surprise, John avait demandé à Hugh de le rejoindre mais sans lui dire qu'Olivia était là. Apparemment l'émotion fut tellement grande pour Hugh que la seule chose qu'il trouva à dire à Olivia c'est, qu'adolescent il avait son poster sur la porte de sa chambre et qu'il l'embrassait tous les matins avant de partir à l'école...après quoi, selon Jackman il y a eu un long silence durant lequel il s'est senti quelque peu idiot... car c'est tout ce qu'Olivia a trouvé à répondre...le silence ....mais bien entendu ca n'a pas duré longtemps, Olivia est tellement chaleureuse... même si parfois certains compliments la laisse pantoise ;o)

Le film réalisé par Baz Luhrmann (réalisateur de Moulin Rouge.... mais qu'est ce qu'il attend pour proposer un rôle à Olivia, lui qui bosse essentiellement avec des acteurs de son pays ? ) se déroule en Australie juste avant la deuxième guerre mondiale.

Il conte les aventures d'une aristocrate Anglaise, Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman), hautaine et renfermée, qui arrive au coeur des paysages sauvages de l'Australie et se retrouve à devoir gérer seule un gigantesque domaine. Contrainte pour sauver l'exploitation de partir vendre 2 000 têtes de bétails à des milliers de kilomètres, elle n'a d'autre choix que de faire équipe avec un cow boy local un peu rustre (Hugh Jackman).
Cette aventure à travers les terres aussi magnifiques qu'inhospitalières d'Australie transformera à jamais ces deux êtres que tout oppose. Au bout de leur périple, la ville de Darwin doit faire face aux bombardements japonais.
