Fearless is a fitting description for Olivia Newton-John, especially during an off-road tour of her California ranch with "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King, to visit her miniature horses.
The horses' names? "Harry and Winston. They're my little jewels!" she said. "I can't ride anymore. So, this way I can enjoy horses without feeling the pressure that I need to ride them."
The horses ease her mind, just as the marijuana buds growing in cups nearby ease something else. The pain, she said, is really bad: "Crying kind of pain. Tears pain."
The pain can be unbearable, but the spirit remains unshakable, as the English-Australian superstar who just turned 71 battles breast cancer for a third time.
King asked, "When you have a diagnosis like this, how do you stay in the moment and stay present and not let it consume you and worry you?"
"Denial is really good!" Newton-John laughed. "It's really healthy! But it was consuming my day. And after a time, I went, 'You know what? I don't know what my time is, but I need to enjoy my life. So, I'm going to eat a cookie if I want it. And I'm gonna have a cup of tea if I want it. And if I wanna have a little bit of wine, I'm gonna do that.' Because the joy of life and everyday living has to be a part of that healing process as well."
I HONESTLY LOVE YOU s'approchait du top du BILLBOARD HOT 100 ... et ONJ était encore numéro 1 pour la 3ème semaine dans la section ADULT CONTEMPORARY du BILLBOARD !

Olivia Newton-John 'Doesn't Buy Into the Statistics' as She Faces Breast Cancer for Third Time
“I have much to live for. And I intend to keep on livin’ it,” said Olivia Newton-John
Olivia Newton-John isn’t letting the details of her prognosis get her down.
The Grease star, 71, spoke about her third bout with breast cancer in an emotional interview with Gayle King on CBS Sunday Morning, set to air Sunday.
The actress, who has tried to stay positive in the face of her stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis, told King she doesn’t like to dwell on the statistics of the disease.
“In my opinion, if they give you a percentage, or you know, ‘This many women get this and they live this long,’ you can create that and make it happen,” Newton-John explained.
“It’s almost like — I think I know what the statistics are. And if, and, but I put them away. But I’m gonna live longer than that. I’ve made that decision. And I don’t buy into the statistics ‘cause I think they can make you really nervous.”
Olivia Newton-John is opening up about her ongoing battle with breast cancer in a new interview for CBS Sunday Morning set to air this weekend.
Despite battling the illness for the third time, the 71-year-old says she's never felt anger about her diagnosis.
"No. 'Why me?' has never been a part of it," she says. "But I never felt victimized...Maybe deep down I knew there was a reason or a purpose for it, or maybe I needed to create one to make it okay for myself. Because it's -- again, it's a decision: 'How am I gonna deal with it?'"
And Olivia intends to deal with it in a positive way. She says even knowing the survival rate of people with stage-four cancer, she's made the decision that she's going to beat those statistics.
"I'm happy. I'm lucky. I'm grateful," she says. "I have much to live for. And I intend to keep on livin' it."
Newton-John admits that she thinks about death, just like any other person, but she doesn't let it consume her.
"I try not to think about it too much," she says. "But I try to meditate and be peaceful about it and know that everyone I love is there, so there's something to look forward to."
CBS Sunday Morning airs Sunday at 9 a.m.

Actress, author and singer Olivia Newton-John opens up to "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King about her ongoing battle with breast cancer, her plans to beat the odds for her diagnosis, and finding a purpose in her illness, in an emotional interview to be broadcast on "CBS Sunday Morning" September 29.
Newton-John, 71, is battling breast cancer for the third time. She learned in 2013 that it had spread to her back. As she told King, marijuana helps ease some of the excruciating pain, which she describes as "crying kind of pain.
"I'm happy. I'm lucky. I'm grateful. I have much to live for. And I intend to keep on living it," Newton-John said.
Known for her work in the film "Grease," and for such hit songs as "Have You Ever Been Mellow" and "Let's Get Physical," Newton-John said that she's never felt angry about the recurring illness.
"No, 'Why me' has never been a part of it," she said. "I never felt victimized. I never felt, 'Why not?' Maybe deep down I knew there was a reason or a purpose for it, or maybe I needed to create one to make it okay for myself. Because, again, it's a decision: 'How am I gonna deal with it?'"
In a wide-ranging interview with Newton-John at her Los Angeles home, she talked with King about her life today, her career, her philanthropy, and more. They also visit her clothing and memorabilia vault to try on the famed black leather outfit she wore in "Grease" alongside co-star John Travolta.
She also recalls the moment two years ago when she learned she had stage 4 cancer. Newton-John said she does not dwell on details of the prognosis. "In my opinion, if they give you a percentage – you know, 'This many women get this and they live this long,' you can create that and make it happen," Newton-John said. "I think I know what the statistics are. But I put them away: But I'm gonna live longer than that. I've made that decision. And I don't buy into the statistics, 'cause I think they can make you really nervous."
Yet, given those statistics, does she think about death?
"You have to think about it. I mean, it's part of life," Newton-John told King. "And, of course, if you have a cancer diagnosis, your death is kind of there. Whereas most people, we don't have a clue when we're gonna die. And I could die tomorrow; a tree could fall on me. So, it's just that we have that knowledge that we could die. But I'm not – I try not to think about it too much.
"I try to meditate and be peaceful about it, and know that everyone I love is there, so there's something to look forward to," she said.

A disc jockey story
I had two whirlwind romance chances with Olivia Newton-John. Twice I held her in my arms, twice I dazzled her with my charms, and twice she left unimpressed. To protect my ego, I must assume she simply doesn’t like younger men.
The last day of March 1976 was a sun-splattered San Francisco Sunday, and M.C.A. Records had invited me to an Olivia Newton-John cocktail party! I was invited partly because M.C.A. knew of my undying devotion to Olivia. I was invited mostly because KFIV was a “Reporting Station,” which meant we reported the songs we played to the record trade magazines. If we discovered a song, then a station in say, Mobile, Alabama, might decide to give that song a try. We carried weight. M.C.A. knew who to invite to this party, bless its corporate heart.
This was my big chance, and I arrived predictably early; Olivia arrived fashionably late. We were at The Sheraton at the Wharf. Five-star hotels begin with “The,” as in “The Fairmont Hotel,” “The Waldorf Astoria,” but never as in “The Holiday Inn.”
