John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John head to Tampa for Grease singalong

 The actors, who both have ties to the Tampa Bay area, will be on hand for a meet and greet with fans and a film singalong.

It will be a Rydell High School reunion in December when John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John visit Tampa for a special “Meet and Grease” movie sing-along event at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.

 Released in June 1978, the movie just celebrated its 40th anniversary last year and remains one of the most popular musicals of all time.

 Tickets for the Dec. 14 screening start at $39. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available, which include a meeting with the stars before the event at 5 p.m. Tickets go sale Friday at 10 a.m. at livenation.com.
During the 8 p.m. screening, singalong lyrics will appear on screen. After, Travolta and Newton-John with do a question and answer session. “All audience members are encouraged to come dressed as your favorite character from Grease,” according to a press release.

 “Grease holds such a special place in my heart that when John and I talked about this reunion I was excited,” said Newton-John in the release. “The film finds a new generation of fans each year and now 41 years later it will be great to have the chance to meet some of them in person!”

 “Olivia and I wanted to present the opportunity to meet Danny and Sandy in-person," Travolta said in the release. “I hope you join us. This is a first!”

 Based on a Broadway show of the same name, the story is set in the fall of 1958 at Rydell High and follows innocent new girl Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) and bad boy greaser Danny (John Travolta) through their tumultuous love story. After a summer romance, Danny and Sandy are thrown for a loop when they unexpectedly run into each other on the first day back at school.

 Both Travolta and Newton-John have ties to the Tampa Bay area.

 Travolta has a home in the gated community north of Ocala called Jumbolair designed. It’s designed for fellow aviation enthusiasts and boasts the longest private paved runway in the country. He and his wife, actor Kelly Preston, are Scientologists and frequent their world headquarters in Clearwater.

 Newton-John, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, is on the board of advisers for the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and has said Lee Moffitt has been a mentor to her for her own cancer center in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - I've got chills. They're multiplying!

It's the Rydell High School reunion event of the year! Grease stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John reunite for a special "Meet ‘N' Grease" movie Sing-A-Long event in Jacksonville!

The event will be held at Daily's Place on December 15.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, October 25 at 10 a.m. There will be a chance to meet the stars with "Meet ‘N' Grease" VIP passes.

In addition, there will be a massive screening of the Grease Sing-A-Long film, followed by a special, intimate Q&A with Travolta and Newton-John.

All audience members are encouraged to come dressed as your favorite character from Grease.

"Olivia and I wanted to present the opportunity to meet Danny and Sandy in-person with the movie Grease Sing-A-Long, photo op and Q&A," John Travolta said. "I hope you join us. This is a first!"

"Olivia et moi voulions présenter l'occasion de rencontrer Danny et Sandy en personne", a déclaré Travolta dans son communiqué. "J'espère que vous vous joindrez à nous. C'est une première!"

Basé sur un spectacle du même nom à Broadway, l’histoire se déroule à l’automne 1958 à Rydell High et suit la nouvelle fille innocente Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) et le bad boy Danny (John Travolta) à travers leur histoire d’amour tumultueuse. Après une romance estivale, Danny et Sandy se lancent dans une boucle lorsqu'ils se rencontrent de manière inattendue le premier jour de rentrée scolaire.

Travolta et Newton-John ont tous deux des liens avec la région de Tampa Bay.

Travolta a une maison dans la communauté fermée au nord d'Ocala appelée Jumbolair. Il est conçu pour les passionnés d’aviation et possède la plus longue piste pavée privée du pays. Lui et son épouse, l'actrice Kelly Preston, sont des scientologues et fréquentent leur siège mondial à Clearwater.

Newton-John, qui a reçu un diagnostic de cancer du sein en 1992, fait partie du conseil d’administration du Moffitt Cancer Center à Tampa et a déclaré que Lee Moffitt l’a guidée pour son propre centre de cancérologie situé dans sa ville natale de Melbourne, en Australie.
