COMMEMORATION

Details of a state memorial service for Dame Olivia Newton-John have been revealed by the Victorian government ahead of the event later this month.

The acclaimed singer and actor died in August 2022 at her home in California after a long battle with breast cancer.

The memorial service in her honour will be held at Hamer Hall in Melbourne on February 26 and will include a performance by Delta Goodrem.

The event will be free but members of the public wishing to attend will have to register for a limited number of tickets.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the service was being planned in close consultation with Olivia Newton-John's family.

"Dame Olivia Newton-John was an inspiration to many around the world — her work in cancer research and treatment saved lives and changed lives and her music was the soundtrack to a generation," he said.

"We know Victorians are eager to celebrate the life of a driving force in medical research and an icon of film and music, with a service befitting her international acclaim."

Un service commémoratif suite au décès d'OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN aura lieu au Hamer Hall de Melbourne le 26 février et comprendra une performance de Delta Goodrem.

 L’événement sera gratuit, mais les membres du public souhaitant y assister devront s’inscrire pour obtenir un nombre limité de billets. 

 Le premier ministre Daniel Andrews a déclaré que le service était planifié en étroite consultation avec la famille d’Olivia Newton-John.

« Dame Olivia Newton-John a été une source d’inspiration pour beaucoup de gens à travers le monde – son travail dans la recherche et le traitement du cancer a sauvé et changé des vies et sa musique a été la bande sonore d’une génération », a-t-il déclaré. 

 « Nous savons que les Victoriens sont impatients de célébrer la vie d’une force motrice dans la recherche médicale et d’une icône du cinéma et de la musique, avec un service digne de sa renommée internationale. »

The evening  featured an emotional tribute to Olivia Newton-John, the Australian singer-actor who died in August at age 73 after a battle with breast cancer.

“Every day with Olivia was supernatural,” said Paul Hogan, the veteran Australian comedian and performer, recounting his first meeting with Newton-John at a TV taping at the Sydney Opera House in the 1980s. He also remembered his last time working with when her, when he asked her to shoot a cameo for him as a favor. He couldn’t help but notice how much she struggled to move. But as he helped her around, she made a point of telling him to think about adjusting the scene to allow a group of extras to work inside rather than outside in the Australian winter chill.

“The kid was in pain but she was worried about the extras getting cold,” Hogan said. “She was the nicest person you’d ever want to meet.” Newton-John’s husband, John Easterling, and daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, were on hand for a musical tribute featuring a medley of the “Grease” and “Xanadu” star’s biggest hits, performed by Aussie musician Delta Goodrem.

Sa mère, dira de lui : « Andy n'a jamais grandi, il était comme Peter Pan, il a été un petit garçon toute sa vie, il est resté un bébé toute sa vie (fragile) ». Un « bébé » qu'elle et ses frères auront en vain tenté de sauver durant des années, notamment dans la lutte contre ses addictions.

Le concert Fire Fight Australia s'est déroulé le 16 février au stade ANZ. Localement, l'événement a été diffusé en direct par Fox8 et Foxtel. Maintenant, quelques semaines plus tard, l'événement sera également disponible pour les fans américains, avec la chaîne Fox promettant de reverser tous les bénéfices à la Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal, qui œuvre pour aider les communautés rurales australiennes affectées par les incendies de forêt.

Olivia Newton-John assurera la couverture du concert pour la spéciale de Fox qui diffuse un résumé de l'événement dans une spéciale d'une heure, les performances vont être réduites pour tous les artistes et certains peuvent même être complètement exclus.

Bien que rien n’ait encore été confirmé, il semble qu’Olivia Newton-John puisse faire une apparition dans le dernier film de Paul Hoges, The Very Excellent Mr Dundee, actuellement en tournage en Australie.
Bon c'est une info du Woman's Day ... ça vaut ce que ça vaut !

Since the Grease star opened up about her cancer rearing its ugly head once again, she was recently seen putting on a brave face in Melbourne with the Crocodile Dundee great. The friends’ outing is proof Olivia’s not giving up her health battle and she’s determined to keep business as usual. While not yet confirmed, it appears she may make an appearance in Hoges’ latest film The Very Excellent Mr Dundee, currently being filmed in Australia. The 78-year-old hinted the flick will feature some of his A-list friends. “I’m honoured to have many of my friends and colleagues, whose work I adore, agree to join us for this hilarious new adventure,” Hoges teased.

And sources believe Olivia’s role in the movie is a heartfelt gesture from Hoges to show his support to the 69-year-old actress during such a tough time.....
