Extraite de l'album THE RUMOUR sorti en 1988, dans presque tous les pays, WALK THROUGH FIRE est une superbe ballade écrite par le duo David Baerwald & David Ricketts aka David & David, duo américain qui n'aura duré que le temps d'un superbe album BOOMTOWN en 1986.

La vidéo fut tournée en Australie, dans la prison dorée de Port Arthur pour le spécial d'Olivia Newton-John Down Under qui coïncidait avec les célébrations du bicentenaires de l'Australie.

Port Arthur est un des lieux les plus chargés d'histoire d'Australie et l'un des plus beaux sites touristiques de Tasmanie. A partir de 1833 et jusque dans les années 1850, ce fut le célèbre centre pénitentiaire qui s'y installa : on y envoyait les prisonniers les plus lourdement condamnés, ceux qui avaient été recondamnés après leur arrivée en Australie, les prisonniers difficiles des autres centres de détention. La prison fut fermée en 1877.

L'album THE RUMOUR n'aura pas eu le succès attendu ... et WALK THROUGH FIRE ne verra jamais le jour en 45 tours. La chanson sera reprise par l'un de ses compositeurs David Baerwald pour son album Bedtime Stories de 1990.
