We’ve had such a year of loss. I was such a big Olivia Newton-John fan. I cried so much. Then John Farnham [cancer diagnosis]. I’m sure John’s going to be OK, but I grew up with him. We’ve lost so many legends, and when you go back and look at their catalogue and look at what they’ve done, I think, “What am I doing?” I’ve got to get out and sing. Tina Arena has also been a big inspiration for me. She gave me some pep talks. Her confidence really helped me.

A Byron estate close to his mates fits John’s bill.
It’s hard to find a Hollywood celeb who loves Australia more than John Travolta. He’s travelled Down Under more than 10 times, was an ambassador for Qantas and of course, he calls Aussie icon Olivia Newton-john one of his best mates.
So it’s little wonder he’s enlisted her to help him find the house of his dreams in her homeland!
The 68-year-old Grease star “wants a life reset” after losing his wife Kelly Preston according to close sources who reveal he has set his sights on one day owning a bolthole near celeb hotspot, Byron Bay.
“Taking some time away from America has been on his mind since Kelly passed in 2020,” says a source, who explains that despite once considering living in Europe, he was turned off the idea after spending time with his singer daughter Ella there when she was filming last year.

“John confided his feelings to Olivia during one of their many phone calls, and she suggested he consider moving to Australia. He can’t believe he didn’t think of it sooner!
“He has lots of friends here, including Terri Irwin and Russell Crowe, so living somewhere near them would be ideal.”
Olivia, 73, is said to be encouraging him to look in the Byron region, where she once owned her Gaia Retreat & Spa retreat. It’s also exactly halfway between Russell’s Coffs Harbour estate and Terri’s Australia Zoo home north of Brisbane.
“John loves the idea of being close to people who mean so much to him,” says a source. “He’s been combing the internet for his dream property – and there’s one he’s interested in that ticks all the boxes, including a music studio for Ella, who’s working on her music career.”
Woman’s Day understands that John would use a home in Australia to escape the American winter, together with Ella, 22, and son, Benjamin, 11.
“It helps that he has his 737 pilot licence now – he can basically fly himself and the kids there whenever he wants,” says the insider. “Olivia, who used to live in Byron, thinks the change of scene and slower pace of life will do them all the world of good.”
In 2014, John spoke of his love for our corner of the world.
“I’m very attracted to the personalities of Australia,” he revealed at a Qantas event in Seattle. “The people are very appealing to me.
“They’re very down-to-earth, they’re real, they reach for you. I just find you’re your better self when you feel comfortable with a group of people.”

"Lift Me Up" est une chanson écrite par Darren Hayes , le chanteur de Savage Garden et le producteur Rick Nowels . La chanson a d'abord été proposée aux Backstreet Boys pour une éventuelle inclusion dans l'un de leurs albums à venir. Bien que Backstreet Boys ait enregistré la chanson en studio elle n'est pas apparue dans un de leurs albums. Darren Hayes a ensuite offert la chanson à Olivia Newton-John , alors qu'il avait un accord contractuel avec son management pour lui fournir des chansons. Elle a accepté d'utiliser la chanson et l'a incluse dans son album de duos qu'elle planifiait (2) en 2002, invitant Hayes à l'enregistrer avec elle.

Legendary Aussie entertainer Olivia Newton-John (68) and her husband John Easterling (64) looked a picture of happiness as they walked together in the annual Olivia Newton-John Wellness Walk and Research Run, to raise money for the Grease star’s research centre in Melbourne.
Despite her radiant appearance, Olivia revealed in May that her breast cancer had returned and metastasised to the sacrum, a bone near the base of the spine.
A crowd of supporters joined the Physical singer, including Aussie Opposition Leader Bill Shorten, who pledged $20 million should the Australian Labor Party win the next election. Olivia was all smiles at the event, but was overcome with emotion when she was presented with a cheque for $250,000 from generous donors.
Olivia is also in favour of medicinal marijuana. “It’s a healing plant with wonderful properties,” she says. She wants Australia to follow California’s lead in legalising medicinal use of the drug.

Après Sharon Jones, disparue en novembre dernier, c'est un autre grand ambassadeur de la soul qui nous quitte. Le chanteur américain Charles Bradley est mort samedi 23 septembre à 68 ans d'un cancer, a annoncé son agent.
Né en Floride, dans le sud-est des Etats-Unis, Charles Bradley grandit à New York où il découvre le « parrain » de la soul James Brown au légendaire Apollo Theater de Harlem.
Il se lance alors dans une carrière de chanteur de reprises de son idole, allant jusqu’à copier sa garde-robe et à imiter le style de James Brown sur scène.
C’est son premier album, sorti en 2011, qui lui vaut un début de notoriété, à plus de 60 ans.
Son dernier album, Changes, sorti l’an dernier, lui a enfin permis de toucher un plus large public et a figuré sur la liste des « meilleurs albums de l’année 2016 » de nombreux magazines spécialisés.
J'adorais le personnage, sa voix puissante à la Otis Redding et sa musique Soul ....
J'espère qu'un jour on pourra éradiquer cette terrible maladie .....
