Delta Goodrem
According to information gleaned from the website OliviaNewton-John.com, actress and singer Olivia Newton-John was born in Cambridge, England, in 1948, but her family moved to Australia when she was 5. She is the youngest child of professor Brin and Irene Newton-John. Her mother is the daughter of Nobel Prize-winning physicist Max Born.
Her first big break was winning a talent contest on the TV show Sing, Sing, Sing.
In 1963 at age 15, she formed a girl group, Sol 4, and was soon making appearances on daytime TV shows and pop music programs in Australia. She went on to create a double act, Pat & Olivia, with her friend Pat Carroll, and the duo toured army bases and clubs throughout Europe and the United Kingdom.
Newton-John cut her first single in 1966, and has since sold more than 100 million albums, won four Grammy Awards as well as Country Music, American Music and People’s Choice awards.
In 1978 she co-starred with John Travolta in the very successful musical Grease, and has gone on to star in less notable movies that include Two of a Kind, Xanadu, It’s My Party, Score: A Hockey Musical and A Few Best Men.
Along the way Newton-John battled breast cancer and has been an advocate for promoting public awareness of early detection for more than 25 years.

Being a friend of Olivia NewtonJohn made it more comfortable for another Australia-raised singer-actress to play the superstar on Lifetime. Delta Goodrem has her own career – extending to headlining concert tours and being a coach on her continent’s version of “The Voice” – but her strongest U.S. identification to date may come from her starring role in “Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You” Saturday, Feb. 16. Familiar songs re-recorded by Goodrem are used to mark chapters of Newton-John’s story, encompassing the latter’s bouts with cancer and the disappearance of her then-boyfriend Patrick McDermott (played in the film by Anthony Brandon Wong). “My first interaction with her was when I was about seven years old, by chance,” the pleasant Goodrem says of Newton-John. “My family was on holiday, and my mom and I were having a hot chocolate in New York, and she walked in. And I said, ‘There’s Sandy! There’s Sandy!’ (referencing Newton-John’s ‘Grease’ movie character). She heard my Australian accent and came over and spoke to my mom and I, and I remember how amazing that was.” The women continued to cross paths, and Goodrem recalls that when she received her own Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis at age 18, “Olivia sent me a beautiful letter, and she became my mentor as well as my friend. We talk a lot about the kindred nature of our friendship, and we’ve written songs about it. And it’s full-circle to have this moment now. It’s very special.” Insisting she wouldn’t have accepted the role of Newton-John “without Olivia’s blessing,” Goodrem explains, “I’d just come off a tour, and we had to make the decision quickly. I said to her on the phone, ‘Olivia, it would break my heart not to do everything to make this a wonderful thing for you, so you have to say you really want me to do it.’ She said, ’All right,’ and I said, ‘OK. I’m doing it.”’ Having had a recent hit herself with “Think About You,” Goodrem performed with Newton-John – who isn’t involved in the project otherwise – on a soundtrack for the film, which was acquired from Australia’s Channel Seven. Goodrem remembers “finding that joy that I had growing up with the music” in covering the best-known tunes, “and I discovered moments that I had no idea about, so that was really fascinating.” While lending her own technique to Newton-John’s songs, Goodrem was determined not to stray too far. “I would never want to dance all over them musically,” she notes. “I went into this with an open heart of staying true to the classics, but also appreciating the fact that technology has come so far that we can really enjoy their sound.”

OLIVIA Newton-John has been awarded a Companion of the Order of Australia for her service to community health, particularly those living with cancer, through support for medical research; and as a songwriter and performer. She received an AO in 2006. Since then, she has dedicated herself to raising money and awareness to cure cancer, as well as dealing with disease herself. The singer (pictured) has actively used her fame to raise millions for her Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne. While she has continued her music career, it has often crossed into her other passion – she has either directed her royalties to her Wellness Centre or made music to harness the power of music for healing. She also returned to No.1 on the Australian charts with her friend John Farnham, in 2016’s festive season release Friends for Christmas, recorded after their 2015 joint arena tour of Australia. When the sign bearing her name was erected on the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in 2012, the singer said it was “the best billboard I will ever have”. Newton-John is tackling her latest bout of breast cancer with natural medication and set out one last life goal in her memoirs last year: Don’t Stop Believin’. “My goal is that one day we will be able to take a giant crane and remove the word ‘cancer’ from the building because the disease will be wiped off the planet,” she said. “From that moment on, it will just be the Olivia Newton-John Wellness Centre. That would be a dream come true.”

Contre le réchauffement climatique, le monde doit agir, de préférence tout de suite. Dans un nouveau rapport publié ce lundi, les experts du climat de l’ONU (Giec) s’adressent directement aux Etats pour entrer dans la lutte. Le monde devra engager des transformations « rapides » et « sans précédent », s’il veut limiter le réchauffement climatique à 1,5°C, mettant en garde contre des risques accrus au-delà de ce seuil.
Vagues de chaleur, extinctions d’espèces, déstabilisation des calottes polaires, source de montée des océans… Dans un rapport de 400 pages, les scientifiques exposent les nombreux impacts déjà à l’œuvre et pointent du doigt la menace d’emballement au-delà d’1,5°C de réchauffement.
« Chaque petit accès de réchauffement supplémentaire compte, d’autant que passer cette limite d’1,5°C accroît le risque de changements profonds voire irréversibles, comme la perte de certains écosystèmes », explique Hans-Otto Pörtner, co-président de cette session du Giec.
Si le mercure continue de grimper au rythme actuel, sous l’effet des émissions de gaz à effet de serre, il devrait atteindre +1,5°C entre 2030 et 2052, note le rapport, basé sur plus de 6.000 études. Et si les Etats s’en tiennent à leurs engagements de réduction d’émissions pris dans le cadre de l’accord de Paris en 2015, ce sera +3°C à la fin du siècle.
Alors que faire, tandis que 2017 a encore vu les émissions mondiales liées à l’énergie repartir à la hausse ? Pour le Giec, les émissions de CO2 devront chuter drastiquement dès avant 2030 (-45 % d'ici 2030) et le monde atteindre une « neutralité carbone » en 2050. Autrement dit il faudra cesser de mettre dans l’atmosphère plus de CO2 qu’on ne peut en retirer.
Villes, industries, énergie, bâtiment… Tous les secteurs sont appelés à s’atteler à de « profondes réductions d’émissions » : rester à 1,5°C demandera « une transition rapide » et d’une ampleur « sans précédent ». Le Giec insiste sur l’énergie - charbon, gaz, pétrole étant responsables des trois quarts des émissions. Et propose plusieurs scénarios chiffrés incluant différentes combinaisons d’actions.
L’Alliance des petits Etats insulaires, à la pointe du combat pour inscrire l’objectif des 1,5°C dans l’accord de Paris, a appelé lundi « les nations civilisées à prendre leurs responsabilités en relevant leurs efforts pour réduire les émissions ».

Le fait qu'elle soit une célébrité a attiré l'attention sur ses causes. Ancienne ambassadrice de bonne volonté du Programme des Nations Unies pour l'environnement, elle a soutenue longtemps la forêt amazonienne et estime que la santé et la guérison de l'homme sont intrinsèquement liées à la santé et au bien-être de notre planète.

Le biopic OLIVIA : HOPELESSLY DEVOTED TO YOU fait son petit bonhomme de chemin .. La Pologne le diffuse prochainement sur sa chaîne Canal+.
Pour info ce biopic ne fait pas défaut à la vraie histoire d'Olivia, qui dans ses mémoires parle très peu finalement des ses histoires sentimentales et encore moins de ses choix professionnels ... à part bien sur GREASE, XANADU et tout ce qu'on connait déjà !
Dans ce biopic on en sait un peu plus sur les caractères de Bruce Welch, Lee Kramer ou Matt Lattanzi !

Le double album de 1968 des Beatles , universellement connu sous le nom de "White Album", sera réédité pour son 50ème anniversaire en novembre prochain à travers quatre éditions physiques, dont une édition super luxe de sept disques. Certes ça va coûter une "blinde" mais les fans seront plus qu'heureux !!
Nous les fans d'Olivia Newton-John, nous avons de la chance ... ONJ à toujours été une pro ! Elle a toujours enregistrée ses chansons en une seule prise et pas la peine d'essayer des titres qui ne seront pas sélectionnés pour l'album et encore moins en face B .. et puis ça coûte cher les heures d enregistrement en studio !! :-)
Donc n'espérons pas entendre un jour des versions alternatives ou démos d'ONJ .. il y en a pas ! ( ;-) )

DELTA Goodrem is in the final days on set of the Olivia Newton-John biopic, in the leading role of Olivia. Goodrem will start work on The Voice in Sydney next week, alongside Seal, Boy George and Kelly Rowland. She will literally dump the Olivia wigs and head straight to the red chairs on the set of the reality show. The biopic was shot in Melbourne and includes iconic events like Newton-John’s Let’s Get Physical video clip and the movie Xanadu. Goodrem has the blessing of Newton-John (pictured together, below), who didn’t get a chance to visit the set. “It is a very strange thing for them to be making a movie about me, but I think Delta is a great choice, she is wonderful,” Newton-John told Confidential.
It’s not clear yet when Channel 7 will screen the biopic; it could be later this year or early in 2018. Goodrem hopes to do more acting in the future, after a big 12 months in front of the camera and on stage — firstly with Cats, then Channel 9 drama House Husbands, and now the biopic.
