Interestingly this was one of the songs that Newton-John performed on the television talent competition Sing, Sing, Sing in Australia in 1965 (when she was 16). She won the competition, the prize being a trip to Great Britain, where she remained to build her career. Segue is an Australian label, so I presume that she must have recorded this at some point before she left. She later recorded the song again for her 2004 album Indigo - Women Of Song."

In May 1965, a softly spoken Melbourne teen found herself opening an episode of Boomeride, a groundbreaking new live music television show on GTV-9. But despite her young age, performing for the cameras was already second nature for this confident 16 year old. In the previous year she had made a number of television performances in Melbourne, won a nationally televised singing competition in Sydney and filmed scenes for a new children's feature film. Newton-John burst onto the scene at just 15 years old, winning the Sitmar Talent Quest on ATN-7’s popular Sing Sing Sing in April 1964. Possessing a pure, yet powerful, voice Newton-John was quickly in demand. Television appearances began accumulating with bookings on HSV-7’s Sunnyside Up, ABC TV’s Teen Scene and a return to Sing Sing Sing by year’s end.

En 1965, Olivia Newton-John a joué dans son premier film - Funny Things Happen Down Under . Réalisé par la Pacific Films à Melbourne, en Australie , ce film d'une heure était une comédie musicale destinée aux enfants. C'est donc l'une de ses premières apparitions !
Olivia n'a pas joué un grand rôle dans ce film mais a brillament poussé la chansonnette "Christmas Time Down Under" (non disponible sur disque ... bien sur !).

Olivia Newton-John was John Travolta’s favourite thing about Grease, the star revealed at a 40-year reunion for the film. Cast and crew from the 1978 hit gathered for a special tribute, where Travolta revealed he was instrumental in getting Olivia cast. “There was utterly no one else,” Travolta said. “I said, ‘There is no person in the universe other than Olivia Newton-John to play Sandy’.”
Olivia Newton-John était la chose préférée de John Travolta à propos de Grease, la star avait révélée cet état de fait lors d’une réunion pour les 40 ans du film.
