As rumours swirl that Australia’s beloved golden girl, Olivia Newton-john has only weeks to live following her battle with stage-four bone cancer, her family and management have hastily spoken out to quash the whisperings that the Grease star is clinging to life.

In an exclusive Woman’s Day interview with a source close to Olivia, we can confirm that the singer is at her wits’ end over the negativity surrounding her illness, and was brought to tears after hearing of it.

“She has never been in denial about her illness – it’s deadly serious and certainly not going to go away. But it can be held at a certain level and that’s what has been happening over the last few months,” our insider reveals. “She’s being treated by the best and is responding better than anyone could have hoped. She understands that what she has can’t be cured – that would be a miracle.”

Tongues were set wagging regarding the stoic 70-yearold’s health last year when she was back in Australia to make a cameo appearance in her dear friend Crocodile Dundee Paul Hogan’s upcoming movie. “She looked gaunt and frail, her skin was like paper – not like the ONJ they all knew and loved, and this seemed to shock and scare the production crew,” reveals our source.

STAYING STRONG

Olivia was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and beat it. A second occurrence in 2013 was kept secret from the world before Olivia went public with her third battle in 2017 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and a tumour at the base of her spine again. Our insider says she’s doing everything in her power to stay on top of things.

“All the talk is not just wrong but very hurtful and unfair,” says our source. “It makes her feel depressed, especially as she’s such a strong person. She was shocked to be faced with such negativity. It would send anyone into a downturn.”

In the face of the “sick rumours” the iconic star is determined to fight on, although she’s openly admitted there were times her diagnosis scared her.

“I’d be lying if I said I never [get scared]. There are moments, I’m human,” she said.

Livvy’s rock of support, her husband of 10 years John Easterling, has been key to her positive outlook.

“The sense of peace and calmness he brings to those around him – that’s the best medicine, according to Olivia,” says our source.
She’s also an advocate of medical marijuana to aid her treatment, and campaigned for Australia to relax its drug laws.
“It’s an important part of treatment and it should be available,” she has said.

In fact her daughter Chloe Lattanzi, 32, grows marijuana legally on a farm in Oregon, USA. And it’s her close bond with Chloe and her daughter’s rumoured wedding that gives Olivia even more reason to fight for the future.

Chloe has been unconditionally supportive of her mum and our source confirms her entire inner circle of family and friends have been close by of late.

“Olivia spent Christmas with her loved ones... She’s just staying close to home on her Santa Barbara ranch.”

While the star isn’t bedridden, she’s not taking the risk at the moment of riding her beloved horses. Still, she adores being with her animals and will walk with her dogs once a day if she can.

Despite the speculation over her health, Olivia’s resolved to keep being positive.

“Happy New Year everyone — I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated,” she said, breaking her silence with an online message. “I’m doing great and I want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 as possible.”

Adds our insider, “Olivia has an incredible fighting spirit. Although she is aware it’s a huge battle, she won’t be giving up.”

Et bien entendu, il ne faut pas croire tout ce qu'on peut lire dans les choux gras ... et j'ai comme une méchante impression que les tabloïds ne la lâcheront jamais  ..
