ARIA Albums : John Farnham And Olivia Newton-John Have No 1 Album For 2nd Week

Holding for a second week at the top of the ARIA Albums chart are John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John with their collaboration album “Two Strong Hearts”, matching the two weeks that their previous No.1 together “The Main Event: Highlights” achieved back in December 1998.
With both acts staying at the top it increases their tallies of weeks at the albums summit, John moves up to 48 accumulated weeks at No.1 (third overall) and Olivia climbs to twelve weeks in total moving her from 52nd to equal 47th on that listing alongside other twelve-weeks-at-No.1 acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers (5 #1’s), Billy Joel, Pink Floyd and Robbie Williams (4 #1’s) and Meat Loaf (2 #1’s).

ARIA Albums: John Farnham & Olivia Newton-John Have The No 1 Album

Returning to the top of the ARIA Albums chart for the second time together are John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John with their album “Two Strong Hearts”, which enters at the top of the chart this week, giving both acts new chart records in the process.
“Two Strong Hearts” becomes the 734th No.1 album in Australia (1965 to 2015) and the 585th for ARIA (1983 to 2015), plus the sixteenth for the Sony (direct) label, with their last being almost a year ago when “Burnt Letters” for Taylor Henderson (21-Juy) debuted at the top of the charts, plus the album also becomes up the 381st to debut at the top of the Australian albums chart. John and Olivia previously hit No.1 together when they teamed up with Anthony Warlow for the concert series “The Main Event”, and the parent album “Highlights from The Main Event” which spent two weeks at No.1 in late November 1998.
John Farnham now has placed nine albums at the top of the Albums chart, and one in each of the previous four decades too, taking his tally of weeks at the top to 47, moving him one place ahead of Neil Diamond’s 46 weeks and placing John in third on the list of ‘Tally of Weeks at No.1: Albums’ behind Dire Straits (53) and The Beatles (126) in second and first respectively. Olivia Newton-John also moves up that list too from equal 65th to equal 52nd as she has now notched up eleven weeks from her four No.1 albums. John’s last No.1 album here was “The Last Time” in mid-October 2002 and Olivia’s was the aforementioned “The Main Event” album.

Dans une décision qualifiée de toutes parts d'historique, la Cour suprême des États-Unis a légalisé vendredi le mariage des homosexuels partout dans tous les états du pays.
La nouvelle a été accueillie par une explosion de joie sur les marches du temple de la justice américaine, à Washington. Partout, les drapeaux gays étaient agités et les comptes Twitter et Facebook de la Maison Blanche arboraient les couleurs arc-en-ciel.

Sony Music Entertainment Australia is proud to release TWO STRONG HEARTS LIVE, the new live album from John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John.
Together, Farnham and Newton-John’s voices are bound up in the collective DNA of Australian music lovers. Recorded in Melbourne with Philharmonia Australia, the twenty-one track album features sixteen duets with two of Australia’s most iconic singers.
With a 60-piece orchestra behind them, Farnham and Newton-John recently sold out houses around the country. With Chong Lim leading the orchestra alongside Farnham’s core band and singers, audiences were treated to a thrilling series of gigs that saw each artist dig into their own personal songbook with stunning results.
Highlights on the album include ‘Two Strong Hearts’, ‘Let Me Be There’, ‘Xanadu’, the Peter Allen penned ‘I Honestly Love You’ and a sublime ‘Tenterfield Saddler’, ‘Dare To Dream’ (first heard at the Sydney OLYMPICS 2000), ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, ‘Burn For You’ and the jazz/blues hybrid of ‘Hit The Road Jack’ and ‘Fever’. Hearing Farnham and Newton-John work through ‘You’re The One That I Want’ and ‘Summer Nights’ from the Grease soundtrack is joyous, funny and downright brilliant.
In the final furlong you’ll hear ‘Hearts On Fire’, ‘If Not For You’ and a re-working of John’s hit with Human Nature, ‘Every Time You Cry’. ‘Physical’ had every room the pair played whilst on tour on their feet. Throw in a powerhouse ‘You’re The Voice’ and a stunning cover of AC/DC’s ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock And Roll)’, where the mix of rock n’ roll electricity and orchestra absolutely rocks.

La maladie l'a certes emportée mais elle reste une icône, une légende qui reste gravée dans les mémoires.

John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John have a chemistry and friendship you just can’t fake. And zero egos. Some stars wouldn’t let their signature hits and show-stopping anthems become duets. But on this live souvenir of their recent joint tour you have Farnham getting Physical and ONJ even starts national anthem You’re the Voice. The fact these two were having serious fun is not lost in the recorded translation. You also see new sides, like Farnham blitzing Over the Rainbow and Livvie cutting loose with rock wailing on Hit the Road Jack. That’s another one of the joys here, we rarely get to hear Olivia live and from the divine thrills of Xanadu to the spine chills of I Honestly Love You it’s our loss. And both know they’re privileged to be singing Peter Allen’s Tenterfield Saddler.
On the actual duets, Grease favourites Summer Nights and You’re the One That I Want, Farnham slips into Travolta mode. You just wish there was a DVD to see the full effect of him in leather pants and dancing. There’s the underrated No One Comes Close, Farnham sings Suddenly better than ONJ’s original duet partner Cliff Richard and Burn For You works as a duet (it’d probably work as death metal track).
As AC/DC don’t play it any more, Farnham ends with It’s a Long Way To the Top If You Wanna Rock and Roll. Even Livvie discovers there’s a touch of Bon Scott deep, deep inside as she does stadium pub rock work amid all the bagpipes and the audible joy of The Voice singing his favourite song.

Olivia Newton-John will return to Australia later this year to raise funds for her cancer charity.
The 66-year-old will return home after a stint at The Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas to host the third annual ONJ Gala in Melbourne.
Newton-John will be joined by the Bee Gees' Barry Gibb in his only Australian performance and The Voice 2013 winner Harrison Craig.
Tickets are priced from $4000 a table with money raised to go towards supporting programs at the Austin Hospital's Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre.
* The ONJ Gala will be held at Melbourne's Grand Hyatt on September 19 with hosts Deborah Hutton & Richard Wilkins.
Olivia Newton-John will also take part in the welnness walk, leading the walk through the streets of Ivanhoe in Melbourne on Sunday 4 October. The 4,2 kilometre walk is open to all ages. Walkers can register at oliviaappeal from 1 july 2015.

The Great Barrier Reef Under Threat, rapport commandé par le WWF, indique que l’industrialisation sauvage le long de la Grande Barrière de corail pourrait gravement endommager cet écosystème, qui compte parmi les plus importants de notre planète. Le rapport met ainsi en évidence que les déchets générés par le développement portuaire dans le périmètre du récif, site classé au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO, auront des « effets dévastateurs ». Afin d’empêcher que de nouvelles pressions inacceptables s’exercent sur cet écosystème déjà très vulnérable, le WWF demande au gouvernement australien d’interdire tout dépôt de boues de dragage sur le site de la Grande Barrière de corail, classé au patrimoine de l’humanité. «La Grande Barrière de corail est un des habitats naturels océaniques les plus riches : il abrite de nombreuses espèces protégées, et représente un atout économique pour l’Australie et un trésor naturel pour le monde entier. Faire du récif un dépotoir n’a aucun sens, non seulement du point de vue environnemental, mais aussi du point de vue économique puisqu’il s’agit ici de construire des ports inutiles.» a déclaré le Directeur général du WWF International, Marco Lambertini.
