Just five years after the hit film Grease was released and Olivia Newton-John became a household name – and right at the time she was about to open her own boutique, Koala Blue, in Los Angeles – the singer and actress appeared in the pages of Vogue Australia’s December 1983 issue, purveying party-ready outfits straight out of an 80s playbook. In a profile calling out Newton-John’s ‘new moves’ and ‘black magic’ allure, the accompanying shoot was packed with big hair, disco sequins, over-the-top eyeshadow, ruched mini-dresses, a mullet-esque ‘do and wrist cuffs. Dressed in Australian designers Mark & Geoffrey and Linda Jackson, both prominent names at the time, Newton-John almost looked the part of ‘rebel’ Sandy, if Sandy had swapped her leather trousers for a strapless party dress, that is.
Cinq ans à peine après la sortie du film à succès Grease, Olivia Newton-John, devenue célèbre, et à l'époque où elle s'apprêtait à ouvrir sa propre boutique, Koala Blue, à Los Angeles, la chanteuse / actrice est apparue dans les pages du numéro de décembre 1983 du Vogue Australia, proposant des vêtements prêts pour la fête tout droit sortis d'un playbook des années 80. Dans un profil évoquant les «nouveaux mouvements» et la «magie noire» de Newton-John, le tournage qui l'accompagnait était rempli de gros cheveux, de paillettes disco, de paupières fardées, de mini-robes froncées ... Habillé par les designers australiens Mark & Geoffrey et Linda Jackson, deux noms célèbres à l'époque, Newton-John a presque gardé le rôle de la 'rebelle' Sandy, si Sandy avait troqué son pantalon de cuir contre une robe de soirée sans bretelles.
