Her sunny smile, caring personality and fresh-faced beauty endeared her to the world, but this month millions were in mourning as Dame Olivia Newton-John finally lost her long, brave battle with breast cancer. The British-born Australian actress, singer and philanthropist – who will be forever known as wholesome high-school student Sandy in Grease – was 73 when she peacefully passed away at her ranch in California, surrounded by her loved ones. Announcing the sad news on Facebook, her loving husband, John Easterling, praised Olivia’s determination to help other cancer sufferers and described her as “a symbol of triumphs and hope” after her 30-year struggle with the illness, which was first diagnosed in 1992 before returning in 2013 and 2017. “Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John…






For Canadian singer-songwriter Amy Sky, Olivia was a collaborator, a friend, a “soul sister.” Introduced in the 1980s, when Olivia was looking for female songwriters to work with, the pair wrote their first song together for Olivia’s 1988 album, The Rumour. “We had an immediate bond,” says Amy, 61. Over the years, they teamed up on a number of projects – sometimes with Amy as producer, a writer a vocal partner – including Grace and Gratitude in 2006 and Liv On (featuring American singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman) in 2016. En el caso de Olivia Newton-John fue Grease, la película que en 1978 la convirtió en una gran estrella con millones de admiradores. Fans que hoy siguen llorando la muerte de la actriz y cantante, fallecida el pasado 8 de agosto, a los 73 años y tras dos décadas luchando contra el cáncer de mama.
