Woman’s Day talks to Olivia Newton-john on the importance of clean skincare

Australian brands are leading the way when it comes to natural and organic skincare and one group at the forefront of this movement is Retreatment Botanics, created by Olivia Newton-john. We spoke to the 73-year-old singer about clean beauty and her Retreatment Botanics skincare range.

Natural beauty is a huge movement now. How important is clean skincare to you?

It is vital to me that whatever

I put on my skin is as toxinfree as possible, and contains high levels of natural and organic ingredients. It’s also super important that I use skincare with minimal impact on the environment and all of Mother Earth’s living creatures. This is why it was a must that Retreatment Botanics be toxin-free and certified cruelty-free and vegan as well as certified palm oil-free.

Do you believe that natural and organic skincare can be as effective as conventional skincare? 

Absolutely – even more so than things laden with chemicals and toxins! Plants have incredible healing power and that translates to our entire bodies, including applying them topically. Retreatment Botanics uses an extraction method called Australian Cellular Biomimicry. This technique extracts the botanicals from native Aussie plants, which survive some of the toughest conditions in the world, as they exist in nature. It keeps them stable until they can be delivered to the skin, allowing for optimal results.

What can we expect from Retreatment Botanics? 

Initially, you can expect beautiful aromas and textures – a feeling of a retreat in your home. From there, you will notice your skin looks and feels refreshed from the very first ritual.

What is your favourite product – or three! – from the range?

I do love them all, but especially Kakadu Brightening

Serum and Restore Serum. They are both so delicious to apply, and I notice they brighten and hydrate my skin really quickly. I indulge in a ritual morning and night where I massage them over my face, neck and decolletage – I like to think of this as self-care teamed with skincare! My next favourite would be Instant Glow Face Masque. 

It’s aptly named because this is exactly what it does – gives your skin an immediate glow. It’s my at-home facial, I apply it then relax as it does its work. I feel so refreshed and calm afterwards and my skin radiates.
