It seems Grease is still the word! For the first time since shooting their hit film 41 years ago, Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta donned their iconic costumes for a special “Meet n’ Grease” fan event in Florida.
Olivia, 71, was all smiles arriving hand-in-hand with her co-star, before changing into a more comfortable version of her memorable skin-tight leather look for a chat with the audience.
The excited crowd enjoyed exclusive performances from both stars, with John, 65, bringing out a pack of ‘greasers’ for a rendition of “Greased Lightnin’”, while Olivia treated fans to an a cappella version of “Hopelessly Devoted to You” – despite admitting that she hadn’t sung in over a year.
Back in November, the “Physical” singer sold her cherished Grease jacket in an auction to raise money for her charity, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre.
Despite paying around $368,200 for the memorabilia, the fan has since returned it to Olivia along with another sizeable donation, saying that it “shouldn’t sit in a billionaire’s closet for country club bragging rights”.

Electrifying! Olivia and John showed they’re the ones we still want.
We’ve got chills! Grease stars Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta (65) wound back the clock last week, when they appeared as their iconic characters Sandy and Danny for the first time in more than 40 years.
The duo were at an event honouring the hit 1970s movie, with Olivia even singing a few bars of the ballad Hopelessly Devoted to You.
“I haven’t sung in a year, so will you help me?” she asked the crowd, before changing from her ‘innocent Sandy’ to her ‘sexy Sandy’ look.
The 71-year-old, who announced she was battling cancer for the third time last year, looked especially well. “I’m right here, right now, alive and healthy,” she said.

Their chemistry was sizzling back in 1978. Olivia and John still have a close friendship today.
They gave us chills that were multiplying as Sandy and Danny in the hit film Grease in 1978 and 41 years later, Olivia Newton-john and John Travolta’s chemistry is just as electrifying!
The beloved entertainers looked every bit as enamoured with each other as they did back then, sharing a kiss and holding hands for the adoring crowds as they donned their costumes to reunite for a “Meet n’ Grease” movie singalong in Florida last week.
IN THE BEGINNING
John, 65, and Olivia’s love story began when John, then 23, begged casting executives to take a chance on Olivia, by giving her the role of Sandy Olsson, who would fall head over heels for Rydell High’s resident jock, Danny Zuko.
John was so infatuated with Olivia, he made scriptwriters write the character around her – making Sandy an Australian expat to accommodate Olivia’s strong accent.
“If you were a young man in the ’70s, if you remember that album cover of Olivia with that
blue shirt on, wi with those big blue eyes staring right r at you, every boy’s, every ma man’s dream was, ‘Oh, I’d love for that girl to be my girlfriend,’” John, Jo who has been married to Kelly Preston for 28 years, told media at the time.
“So when I had the privilege to have input on the casting, I said, ‘There’s no other person in the universe than Olivia NewtonJohn to play Sandy. You must cast her.’ So I held tight, didn’t I, and I got my way!” he continued.
And while Olivia, 71, who has been married twice since the movie, has been quick to state that the pair were never lovers, she did acknowledge that there was a certain “tension” between them that allowed for their sizzling on-screen chemistry.
“We were both with other people when we were filming and I think, respectfully, it just didn’t happen. I think it was good, because it kept the tension there and the chemistry,” she said years later.
Decades on, another hit film and a Christmas album later, the duo are still as close as ever. And while Grease fans rally for the pair to reunite every year, Olivia via and John’s love and support for or one another means the film is still magical to watch today.
MUTUAL ADMIRATION
During one of her appearances es with her co-star at the film’s 20th h anniversary, Olivia said she’s always thankful for “darling” John. “Every time I see him it’s s like no time has gone by. We just have a connection, he’s a wonderful human being.”
And John gushed about Olivia at the Fanatic premiere last week, where he praised her youthful appearance and strength amid her cancer battle. “I’m very happy about Olivia,” he said. “She looks incredible. She doesn’t look any different than she did years ago, and I’m very proud of her,” he added.
