- Big weekend for Livvy
It was a long time between grand final drinks for Saturday's anthem singer Olivia Newton-John, who last tackled the ups and downs of Advance Australia Fair at a season-ender in 1986, when the Hawks bested her favoured Blues by seven goals. But time hasn't dimmed the honour of the invitation. Before Saturday's clash, she told Heckler: "It's such an honour to be asked to do it and Tom Jones is going to be on, too. I love him, so I'm excited about that."
It is a big Melbourne weekend all round for the singer, who on Sunday will have the streets of Ivanhoe closed off for her second annual Wellness Walk - a fund-raiser for the wellness programs at her cancer centre at the Austin Hospital.
"The government pays for the cancer centre, but for the wellness programs we need to get support from the public," Newton-John said.
Anyone can take part in the event, which kicks off at The Centre in Ivanhoe from 11am (you can register from 8.30am).
Details and donations at oliviaappeal.com. The hike through the suburban streets will end with a street party featuring ONJ herself, Joe Camilleri, James Blundell and Jiordan Tolli.
